Finding a healthy balance between your work and personal life is something nearly everyone struggles with. It's not always easy, but it's important to make time for both since, too much of either can be detrimental.

When you're in business for yourself there can be virtually no quitting time. This is particularly true when your business is fledgling and a huge financial investment. Despite the difficulty of doing it, it still is a good idea to find some personal time for you. It will give you time to regroup, so you can go back to work with a renewed vigor. If you don't your personal relationships may suffer.

Starting your own business is a dream for many people. They long for the freedom from having a boss and to be able to set their own hours. Being all about work, however, simply replaces one set of problems for another.

There are numerous reasons for keeping your business and personal life separate. Neither will flourish if you devote too much time to just one.

Anyone can get oversaturated if they immerse themselves in only one area with no respite. Once that happens, it can lead to mistakes which are embarrassing and can have serious consequences. Stepping back for a moment or longer will give you a needed break and the ability to return with a fresh perspective.

Using Colors in Your Room

Colors play an important part in your Home Decor process. Colors are what give life and personality to your room.

Here are some quickies to keep in mind when deciding over colors.

1. If you are using many colors in one single room, make sure you use a color at least three times in the same room. You could use shades and tints of that color. For eg. your curtains, pillows and tablecloth can be of the same color. This gives a look of harmony and help avoid the 'too much' and 'confused' look.

2. For filling space, use warm colors like reds, yellows and oranges. They tend to grab the eye and fill the space and are soothing and warm.

3. For giving an illusion of more and open space, use cool colors like blues, greens and violets.

4. For a serene and comforting look, use pale pinks. The closer pink gets to red, the more energetic it becomes.

5. Use vertical stripes on walls and curtains for an illusion of height.

6. Light colored walls and ceilings make the room look larger and more spacious.

7. Try to avoid contradicting colors and themes. If you want your room to look larger and need to use cool colors to achieve it, choose a theme which goes with cool colors.

8. If same-colored sofa, carpet and other upholstery give a monotonous look, use colorful cushions and wall-hangings to break the monotony.

Free Seminars * We've all heard the saying "You get what you pay for." It's definitely true in this case. The audience members don't have to pay and the teachers of the seminars don't get payed.

I purchased the Lenox Butterfly Meadow tablecloth and when it arrived, I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful it is. It is much more vibrant in color than in the picture and the material is very lovely. It almost looks like white satin or silk in some areas. It truly is beautiful. I know I keep repeating muself but it truly is.

I used it for the first time 2 weeks ago and I had some people over. One of my friends looked at it, stopped in her tracks, and after 30 seconds or so of silence, said, "this matches my dishes". I laughed and said, yes, it is Lenox. She asked where I purchased it and if it was expensive and I filled her in on details. She just couldn't get over it.

All that is the positive side. Now for the negative and this is why I gave it only 4 stars instead of 5. I washed it and followed the manufacturer's instructions to the letter. However, I was a little disappointed that it did not look as great after washing as it did before. Anotherwords, it was a little wrinkly and the edges were curled. It looked as if it needed a cool or warm iron to touch it up. Maybe that is the case. I just thought it would be wrinkle proof.

But it is still gorgeous, looks fantastic on the table, and I would buy it again, but maybe in a larger size for when I opened my dining room table to be larger.

So, all in all, I would still recommend it and I would buy it again.

My Top Ten Quilting Tips

So many people have written asking how I manage to get a quilt made a week.
So here's my top ten hints on how I get quilts done!

1. I have a room just for sewing, right next to the kitchen and away from
the bedrooms. I can dash in there and sew a few seams whenever I find
(literally) a minute. I bound a quilt during the commercials on a movie on
Sunday night - the TV was on in the kitchen, so I knew when to go back.

2. Put your sewing pressing on the ironing board at the end of each sewing
session, alongside your clothes ironing. When you iron some clothes, get
your sewing pressing done too.

3. Put a small table next to your favourite comfortable chair and ALWAYS
have some hand-sewing on it. So if you sit down for even a few minutes you
can get a little hand-sewing done without having to hunt for something to do
first.

4. Make up an attractive bag with a full sewing kit and a small hand-sewn
project in it. This is your "take anywhere" project, and you pick it up
whenever you think there is any possibility that you could be stuck
somewhere and can get some hand-sewing done. I keep mine on my small table
next to my chair, so that I only have one hand-sewing project to worry about at a time.

5. Keep all your sewing tools (scissors, rotary cutter, etc) in a central
place like a basket (I use a big pencil case). And keep this basket next to you as you sew so that you always put the tools back in it. That way you
will never have to waste time searching for tools. Also, you can grab this
quickly as you rush out the door late for a class! Also, I keep my bobbins
in three separate bobbin cases - marked "polyester", "cotton" and
"quilting". The plastic bobbins have "p", "c" or "q" written on them too,
so I always know what I have in my hand.

6. Use zip-lock bags to store all the bits and pieces of each project.
Even if you have to pack it all away at the end of the day, you won't waste
time searching for anything. If you are using any special threads, trims,
etc, put these in the zip lock bag too.

7. Binding can be almost completely sewn on by machine (sew on the front as
normal, fold it to the back so that the binding overlaps the first seam by
about a quarter of an inch, pin well, then ditch-stitch from the front). It
doesn't give as neat a finish as hand-sewing, and you might have to finish
off the corners by hand, but it is quick.

8. When you buy the fabric for the quilt top, or when you start a project
from stash fabrics, buy or set aside the fabric for the backing and the
batting as well. Store these with the top while it is in progress. When
the top is finished, the next step - without stopping for breath! - is to
baste the quilt and then start quilting. If you pack the top away because
you have to go out and get batting and backing you might never get back to
it. A quilt is not a quilt until it is a quilt - it is a quilt top and,
unless you want to use it for a tablecloth, it is not finished!

9. Keep your tools in good condition. When you put a new blade in your
rotary cutter, buy the next one. Nothing slows you down like a blunt cutter
(two cuts instead of one). Have your scissors sharpened regularly. Keep
your different types of pins in different containers so you don't have to
hunt through one big pin tin for the right sort of pin. Change your sewing
machine needles regularly (I use a new piecing needle and a new quilting
needle for every second quilt). Clean the fluff out of your sewing machine
after every quilt.

10. Look after your patterns. The small zip-lock bag most patterns come in
are seldom large enough to keep it all in after you have opened it up and
pored over it, and never big enough to hold all the templates and little
scraps of paper you add when it is an applique pattern. Put the pattern in
a large zip-lock bag and keep it all together, rather than trying to squeeze
it all back in the original bag (trust me - it's hard enough for me to fit
my paper-hungry patterns in the original bag before you buy it, let alone
after you have opened it up! ). If you can't fit all the bits and pieces
in the bag you might leave some out and then that wastes time in looking for
them later.

A spacious dining room was considered a necessity in older homes. However, today our homes seem to be more compact and the emphasis has moved toward allotting more space for the family room as well as other activity specific areas. You instantly have a dining place for four people that is attractive and functional.

When shopping for a dining table, consider the shape of the table. Square and round tables are more equal in width and length. Rectangular tables are longer in length than width. Round and square tables fit most anywhere. Rectangular tables fit very nicely against a wall which allows for better "traffic flow" in the area.

Dress up the dining room table with pretty table linens. If you own a beautiful table, then show it off! If your dining table is unattractive, cover it with a beautiful damask or linen tablecloth and no one will know how it looks underneath.

When you entertain guests, remember that 90% of the success of a meal lies in its presentation. Keep that in mind when selecting the table linens, napkins, plates, flatware, and serving dishes as well as the favorite food dishes you are going to serve.

Formal table setting are always appropriate but not necessary. You can set an eye-catching table and still stay within your budget. One decorating idea is to collect glasses in one color theme combining antique styles with modern styles to unify the look. They will look great in a dining room of any size.

What is a Business Opportunity List Some Examples-Fine Art Paintings & Reproductions For Starters

What are some things you can do to find out if you are ready to spread your wings and know if fine art paintings and reproductions should be considered?

Marketing fine art is a whole different ball game from just being a hobbyist. So I hear you say, what is a business opportunity list some examples. Knowing whether or not one has a marketable product takes some trial runs, at craft fairs, local galleries, stuff like that. It you do well within the small picture, maybe you have your stuff together enough to spread your wings even farther. It is from those efforts at first, that an artist is either rewarded with the knowledge that others resonate with their work, or not. It is from there that one can gain perspective on their work. You'll also be able to determine if you are ready for fine art paintings reproduction, known as gicless. Or is it makes sense to make greeting cards and/or art posters or prints.

I always say that, "Talent is DESIRE and the rest is practice." I don't believe in the notion that one is 'born with talent'.

If your 'talent' (talent if you want to describe it that way) is not perceived well locally then maybe more 'practice' is in order. That is what I tell myself anyway. I also tell myself that, "The second I think I have arrived? I am indeed finished."

Testing the market.

The best way to test the market, discover if your road to business opportunities for your artwork is sound and ready is at crafts fairs.

Why not galleries or local shops?

Because if you do not have a marketable product you don't want to leave a bitter pill in the gallery director or shop owners mind about you and your art. You want to walk in with a confidence knowing that the art you represent is highly marketable and will show them the money!

Why craft fairs?

Because you can hear first hand the opinions of shoppers. If you have art that stops traffic you are going to be rewarded by finding that out directly. If you have art that can be walked by without even the slightest hesitation? Its a bummer, oof, but you have to know that, if your goal it to market your work. Nothing is more difficult than being made to feel invisible when your are trying to feel noticed as an artist. Oh! It is just so darn sad! Keep in mind though, we have 'all' been there, we really have.

Every single person in every single thing had a beginning.

Take note and care of your heart however, that you should never rely on just one craft fair.. never ever! I have been to many a horrible craft fair in my day and know that sometimes they just stink and it has absolutely nothing to do with you. Be sure to base your critiques on several shows. Check the ratings of those shows as well, why waste you time at a bad craft faire?

What to do with that bitter pill?

If creating for yourself is all you aim for then 'who cares what they think?' But if your aim is to be a professional artist? That bitter pill of having people walk by your work as if it did not exist has to be considered very well.

What to do?

* Look around and see who is selling that resembles your style or energy and try to understand why that is. What IS selling in other words.

* Go back to the drawing table and consider the fact that maybe more practice is in order.

* One thing not mentioned about craft fairs by me so far is that you need to make sure your display is well done. This is your store in a sense so make it as beautiful as possible. Think of different levels of display too, don't just put a tablecloth on a card table. Having some fine art paintings and reproductions will help too, just don't overextend yourself till you are sure of your arts marketability.

It takes a lot of work but in the end it will be so worth it if you are really trying to fulfill your dreams and know the answer to what is a business opportunity and list some examples on your own.

Don't Criticize Obama For Reaction to Northwest Airlines Failed Terror Attempt

It seems like many critics of Obama in the media are criticizing him for his reaction to the failed terrorist attempt that occurred last week on the Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Chicago. As I'm sure you know, a Nigerian radical traveled from his home country to Amsterdam, on a plane to Detroit before attempting to detonate a bomb in his pants while the plane began to descent into the Detroit area.

Thankfully, this plot failed as the bomb simply caught fire without exploding, and there were no casualties resulting from the incident. What many have chosen to focus on in the face of this is President Obama's reaction to this turn of events. He took two days before he proceeded to respond with words to this incident.

His extended response time has drawn harsh criticism from those who generally oppose the President and his policies. This is largely in part because the President was vacationing in Hawaii with his family as this all took place. What these same critics fail to acknowledge is the fact that former President Bush took three full days before addressing the public after the tragic events of September 11th.

When an incident like this takes place, the response and the way it's handled are both integral. All facts must be gathered and known before someone with so much influence should choose his words, and this is simply what occurred here. President Obama needed a couple of days to learn about the incident (as did interrogators) before he responded.

Most importantly, an immediate response could have fed right into the agenda of the terrorists whose purpose is to instill fear into the American culture. By responding immediately, this would in essence be acknowledging the sense of panic that their actions bring. When all is said and done, a lapse in the system occurred, but by no means should the way our President responded be the focus of this all.

Maximizing Your Productivity at Work

Calling all workaholics! Here are a few tips that may help increase your productivity at work.

1. Avoid falling into the trap of interruptions. Our phones connect us to the world; unfortunately they can distract us a great deal from our work too. Leave your phone on voicemail during times that you have to work on a project with a deadline. If you have an office, by all means, keep the door shut.

As an important person, you may even want to go to the lengths of putting a "Do Not Disturb" sign just until you get your tasks done. However, if you still find yourself being interrupted - simply keep it short and stay task-oriented.

2. Schedule time to make phone calls and emails. Whenever you have to leave a message with a client, let them know the times that you're available to talk so as not to have them catch you at a bad time. Also, ask them to do the same. This will save you both time and it will save you from the trouble of dealing with phone tagging.

Also, avoid checking your voice mail and email every minute. Just like with making phone calls, set a schedule for it.

3. Plan breaks throughout the day. With all that work, make sure you get breaks from time to time. Overexerting yourself will only keep you from working efficiently.

Get out of the office, get some fresh air, and grab a bite to eat or give your loved one a call. This will keep your mind off work even for just a second. To motivate you to work better and faster, treat these breaks as your rewards for a job well done.

4. Appreciate your chosen work method. We all have different ways of going about our work, and we all have different ways of organizing things. But embracing improved organizational skills will only make us even better employees and bosses. Keep in mind though that organizing things should make it easier for us at the workplace, it should never burden us.

5. Stick to you work method. Often times, we end up breaking our own rules. Spontaneity may be good at social gatherings, but at the workplace, it's all about working on a schedule. Once you've come up with a good way to manage your work, stick with it. Only you can make sure that you stay on track.
