Quick Tips on the Right Way to Use Green Candles This Summer

Green candles are all about spring and summer - particularly summer, because green is the color of Mother Nature. It is all about growth and freshness, healing and fertility. Green encourages harmony and tranquility. It is the color of safety, so how better to make friends and family feel welcome and secure?

If you're going to be using green candles, focus on flowers and foliage to accessorize and decorate your room and table. You could also add in some of those very realistic fruit candles - apples and pears can look particularly good.

Just make sure your guests don't try to eat them!

Look for candle holders shaped like flowers or leaves, and then match them with the right shade of green candle. There are many greens available, but you don't have to get the color exactly right, as the numerous shades of green generally work well together, just as they do in nature.

Water is also closely associated with nature, so think about what you can do with floating candles; either green candles in a white or clear holder, or white candles in a green bowl, either glass or earthenware.

Chinese paper or lanterns will work well outdoors on a summer evening, and you could pair them will green glass globes, particularly if you have a convenient tree from which to hang them.

Green and white go well together, so think of white china candle holders and white table linen. Because of the association with nature, green candles can work well with more rustic accessories, particularly if you use darker shades of green.

Lace-edged linen is another good choice for table napkins and the tablecloth itself. If you fancy green but want to lean towards the more elegant and exotic, use green candles in gold or ivory candle holders. It shouldn't be too difficult to find some small pale-green glass containers that you could use with tea-lights as part of a table centerpiece.

Green is also an area where the gel candles do particularly well, with their glowing, translucent colors.

Green is also the color that is the most restful for the human eye, so it is also an absolute natural if you are going to spoil yourself or your guests with a candle or candles in the bathroom. And with a bit of forethought you can add some matching translucent soap for a really stunning effect.

Of course, greens also go well at Christmas and post-Christmas celebrations, usually paired with red, but sometimes also with gold or ivory.
