Tablescape - Coffee Break In the Garden

The term "Coffee Break" has many meanings. It could be a quick slurp of java as you head out the door, a pause in the work day, friends chatting about not much, or relaxing and whiling away the day. I opt for the last definition!

I think "coffee breaks" refresh the mind and soul and actually make a person more productive. So in the midst of yard work, enjoy a moment of refreshment. And, of course, it should be pretty!

Pick the prettiest spot in your yard, whether it is in the sun or shade and set up camp. This is really a quick set-up (10 minutes or less), because you need the extra time to enjoy and not fuss!

Grab furniture that is moveable and easy to carry. A side table and 2 lightweight chairs are perfect- you can now even call the neighbor over to join you, or not. A chaise lounge is also a great piece of furniture to have around.

Now lets make it pretty! Real china, a sprig or two of cut flowers from the garden, and a pillow to soften the look adds to the ambience. Of course, I am into linens and need a tablecloth out there! Store bought cookies look fabulous on pretty china. It's all in the presentation.

And the most important part of the whole scheme- a basket of much-loved, beautifully illustrated magazines and books. Keep these ready and waiting by the door for a quick browse through. These books are meant to inspire and nourish the creativity within you. Think of all the great ideas that will flow into your garden after your "coffee break"!

Sip the tea, coffee, lemonade, and sit back and relax! These moments are fleeting, so enjoy them while they last.
